Project 2
Radiation Induced Segregation (RIS) at GBs in Metallic Alloys
• Developed a high-performance mesoscale phase-field (PF) model incorporating point defect dynamics to simulate microstructural evolution in Fe-Cr binary and Fe-Ni-Cr ternary alloys, utilizing Message Passing Interface (MPI) in C for large-scale parallel computation.
• Investigated the effects of grain size, GB mobility, and irradiation conditions on RIS concentration profiles, and validated simulation results through comparison with experimental data.
• Demonstrated the synergistic interplay of RIS and spinodal decomposition through PF simulations, yielding results in qualitative agreement with experimental observations.
• Examined the interplay between GBs and radiation damage in influencing microstructural evolution in nuclear environments.
